Ferrari aerodynamic tests in Spain
Marc Gené tested new components near Barcelona
Three days after Fernando Alonso's victory in Valencia, a Formula 1 Ferrari is back in action in Spain: Spaniard Marc Gené tested various aerodynamic parts yesterday on the Catalan circuit of Idiada.
Despite the utmost secrecy of the Cavallino, the Barcelona newspaper Sport revealed some details: the test was on a straight line, the only one allowed by the FIA during the season, and Ferrari with Gené tested a series of aerodynamic elements that the Red will bring to race at Silverstone and that they should be able to improve the behavior of the F2012 in Qualifying, as this is the area in which Ferrari has struggled the most to date.
The Idiada test facility is located near the town of El Vendrell, an hour's drive south-west of Barcelona: the aero-test follows the encouraging words spoken by the president of the Maranello team Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, who he warned of Red Bull's progress and the need to fight on equal terms with the Austrian "cans".
