Ferrari, Arrivabene: “Veto? Our right has been exercised"

In the press conference reserved for team principals, Maurizio Arrivabene returned to talk about the regulation change expected from 2017 and the right of veto exercised by the "Red" board on the issue of costs and spending ceilings for the purchase of power units. An important conference where the Ferrari Team Principal, upon direct question from the journalists present in the room, explained the reasons that pushed Sergio Marchionne and all the management staff to exploit the right of veto on the regulations that Ferrari managed to confirm during the 2012 season. According to Arrivabene, a maximum spending limit for power units would damage all the manufacturers who spend millions every winter to develop their very expensive products.

Here are the words of Maurizio Arrivabene: “The rules are written by the Federation and we simply exploited our right. We believe that a cap on unit spending would hurt busy builders who spend millions and millions every winter developing their own products, products that are then exploited by customers. Ferrari is open to any type of dialogue to resolve the cost problem but, in our opinion, this is not the path to follow."

“We don't apply the veto at every meeting and when we decide to do so, we think everything through. We know that some teams don't agree with this type of right, but that's the way it is and we just took advantage of something we have. The last veto by Ferrari was applied during the Todt era and therefore you understand well that it is not something that happens often" he concluded.
