F1 | Salo responds to Hamilton's criticism: "It's all nonsense"

Lewis Hamilton certainly didn't like the double penalty he received for irregularities at the start and, interviewed after the race, he declared: “The stewards are trying to stop me but it's okay, I just have to try to keep my head down and stay focused, then we'll see what happens”.

After the Sochi Grand Prix in Russia, race commissioner Mika Salo received a lot of criticism. Not only was he involved in the decision to give Hamilton the penalty, but he is said to have leaked this information prematurely to the Finnish media. Today, speaking to Ilta Sanomat, the Finn defended himself as follows:

“All nonsense. Everyone has to respect the same rules and they are quite clear. If people don't like a decision, there's always a problem. When we took the podium away from Max Verstappen (USA 2017, ed.), I received death threats for a year. Hamilton made his starts from the side of the track and twice more. Then, the he did his last test start on the white line which almost ends the exit from the pit lane”.
