Formula 1 | Mercedes still believes in second place in constructors

Mercedes still believes in second place in the constructors' championship, and is objectively doing well given the problems Ferrari has had recently, especially in race pace. The gap is 35 points, but the final rush of the season should allow the F1-75 to regain that competitiveness which was also partially revised in Monza. For its part, the W13 has improved significantly compared to the beginning of the championship, but the gap with the Scuderia from Maranello still seems wide despite the recent good performances.

“The car struggles on tracks like Spa and Monza, where low aerodynamic load is needed – said Andrew Shovlin, Mercedes on-track technical director. The Italian weekend was difficult, we lacked rear stability when entering corners, and therefore we couldn't do better on the flying lap. In the race we did a little better, but it was impossible to do better than George's third place. The fight with Ferrari for second place gives us a goal to work towards in the final part of the season, so we will use the break before Singapore to prepare as best we can, because we will have six races in just eight weeks."
