F1 | Carey: “We will have a British GP”
The new president is sure that the Silverstone race will be part of the circus' plans
Good news for the future of British GP in Formula 1. The advent of Liberty Medium and the new president Chase Carey has in fact swept away any doubts about the permanence of the English match in the calendar.
If negotiations with Ecclestone had become difficult and financial issues were almost impossible to overcome, the new era of F1 has changed many things.
“We will have a British GP – Carey told The Sun – the foundation of the sport is Western Europe and we want to grow”.
“There is a negotiating dynamic that exists – he continued – but we want a healthy relationship with our promoters. We look forward to engaging with Silverstone to ensure that the race happens and that everything is as it should be."
The statements of the new CEO also further reassured the situation Ross Brawn who admitted Liberty's desire to look to Europe as an indispensable heritage of F1, the founding tradition of the circus.
“Liberty has bought the assets of F1 – he told the Telegraph – and they recognize the value of all this”.
