F1 | Rosberg: “Alonso has no hope in F1, he looks elsewhere to satisfy his desire for victory”
The German comments on the path taken by his former colleague: "His next challenge is to become the most versatile rider in the world"
Indianapolis, Daytona and, ultimately, WEC: behind the extra Formula 1 path undertaken by Fernando Alonso, there is the awareness of no longer having a chance of winning in the Circus. Nico Rosberg he doesn't tell them and gives his honest opinion regarding the 36-year-old Asturian's decision to combine parallel experiences with Formula 1: “He's doing those races because he has no hope in Formula 1" – declared the 2016 world champion to the Spanish newspaper AS. “He has to look elsewhere to satisfy his desire to win, because winning the Formula 1 title is not a possibility for him, so his next big challenge is to become the most versatile rider in the world".
Although the Renault engine could restore a decent level of competitiveness to McLaren, Rosberg believes that Alonso will not win a single race over the course of the season: “Will he win a Grand Prix in 2018? No. Will he get on the podium? A third place, why not?" – said the former German pilot.
