F1 | Hamilton: “It wasn't the best day, grateful for getting the car to the finish line”

Imola was a race full of emotions for Lewis Hamilton. In fact, the Englishman managed to recover to the second final position, after the mistake he made at Tosa which could have compromised his race.

Also favored by the interruption of the GP, due to the violent accident between Bottas and Russell, the seven-time world champion managed to recover position until the decisive and final overtaking against Lando Norris's McLaren which earned him second place behind winner Max Verstappen's Red Bull.

The second place, to which is added the point obtained with the fastest lap, allow Hamilton to maintain the championship lead with just one point ahead of the Red Bull standard-bearer

"Congratulations to Max, he was fantastic today he had a very solid race, Lando was also fantastic – declared Hamilton hotly – For my part it wasn't the best day, the first time I've made a mistake in a long time but I'm grateful for getting the car to the finish line".

Analyzing the long time clerk at Tosa he said: “There is only one good line, I was probably in a bit of a hurry to overtake and I went to the inside. I realized I was doing it wrong and tried to stop, but I slipped further and went out. I'm very grateful to be able to restart and bring good points to the team".

On the comeback: “I was trying to overcome the bitterness you feel when you make a mistake by moving on and trying to learn very quickly. You don't have much time to think about it, and that's what I did. I got back into the spirit of the race, I didn't know if I would have the chance because there was the outside line in the wet but I had some good battles with these guys to get to the front"
