The position of the Brianza Autodrome in the world Formula 1 calendar is shaky
F1 | Italian GP, Sticchi Damiani raises the alarm: "The revenue from ticket sales does not cover the cost of the organization"

In an interview given to the microphones of the Gazzetta dello Sport, Angelo Sticchi Damiani spoke about the situation inherent to the Italian Grand Prix, underlining how the ACI, if there is no renegotiation of the contract with Liberty, may not be able to organize the event in the near future.

The losses relating to the Grand Prix, in fact, amount to a total of 11/12 million and the income from the viewing of tickets is not enough to cover a hole of this magnitude. An extremely difficult situation which is seriously endangering the confirmation of the Brianza event on the world calendar.

Here are the words released by Angelo Sticchi Damiani: “We wanted to inform the officials that we are unable to organize the race according to the terms of the contract. Revenue from ticket sales does not cover the cost of organizing. Furthermore, our losses amount to a total of 11/12 million euros. We will respect the conditions of the current contract, but if we do not agree with Liberty Media for the future, we will not be able to guarantee our presence in 2019”.

Damiani also commented on the situation inherent to the Silverstone circuit, underlining how in the United Kingdom they are facing the same problem: “It must be understood that, according to the rules of the European Union, we are not allowed to receive government subsidies. I spoke to the organizers at Silverstone and they are still determined to say enough in 2019."
