Button: “You don't think about beating your teammate during the season, you only think about scoring points”

Jenson Button he stated that he wasn't worried about batting Lewis Hamilton this season, because all he cares about is the world title.

The Briton has overtaken his teammate Lewis Hamilton in the standings, and now has a slim lead over him of just three points.

“You don't think about it during the season, you don't think about beating your teammate, you just think about getting points. We both won't remember the final position in the championship if we don't win it,” he told the Guardian.

“Points aren't really a problem: whoever scores the most wins the championship and that's what counts. Can't we do it this year? We will do it next year."

Although this year's title is already in the hands of Sebastian Vettel, the Briton expects a solid end to the season.

“I've never been so happy with the car and we're only getting better. I really like racing at the moment and I seem to understand how the car behaves in the race."

“This is the key to getting a good result. I'm much more confident than I've ever been. In my opinion, Hungary was the turning point.”
