HRT, Daniel Ricciardo replacing Karthikeyan at Silverstone

HRT has not yet officially announced it but Daniel Ricciardo has already confirmed that he will drive the Spanish team's car at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, thus making his debut in the premier category. The Red Bull protégé will replace Indian Narain Karthikeyan at Silverstone.

“It's particularly exciting,” Ricciardo told the Herald Sun as he departed Heathrow Airport for Budapest, the scene of his next Formula Renault 3.5 race. “It's fantastic, simply fantastic” added Ricciardo who, as a member of the Red Bull youth team, already drove Toro Rosso in Friday practice in 2011. “Debuting at Silverstone is fantastic” he declared. “It's a circuit I know well and is just a stone's throw from my second home in England,” he added.

Ricciardo will be at HRT on loan from Red Bull and is expected to take up the starting role for the remainder of the season. In fact, Narain Karthikeyan will return to the wheel of HRT only for the Indian GP, ​​barring second thoughts from the team.
