Scuderia Toro Rosso: Not fast enough and braking problems in qualifying in Bahrain

Sebastien Buemi (STR4-01)
"It could have gone much better and I should have easily entered Q2, but I made a mistake in the third sector. I'm disappointed because the car's performance was better than we expected. Considering my times in the various sectors I could have driven taking fewer risks, to secure Q2. The track conditions were similar to those of this morning. I still think that we can have a good race tomorrow, given that this afternoon's performance does not do justice to the true potential of the car. Even if it is difficult to say how many , I hope to be able to recover some positions tomorrow. As for the tyres, we will certainly use mainly the soft ones."

Third free practice session: Best lap 1'33''720, pos. 17th, 15 laps
Qualifying session: Best lap 1'33''753, pos. 17°

Sebastien Bourdais (STR4-02)
"Losing time this morning certainly didn't help. This afternoon, my first attempt was quite good, even better than I thought, and I was therefore optimistic. However, on the second, we started to suffer from a lot of understeer, which I tried to correct by increasing the incidence of the front wing for the last attempt. Suddenly the opposite occurred, a huge oversteer. The car is extremely sensitive to every slight change and due to the lack of aerodynamic load it failed also the grip. It's disappointing to finish so low in the standings."

Third free practice session: Best lap 1'34''990, pos. 20th, 7 laps
Qualifying session: Best lap 1'34''159, pos. 20°

Giorgio Ascanelli: "We have been struggling since the beginning of the weekend and have had reliability problems, which we believe we have resolved now. As regards our performance this afternoon, we simply weren't fast enough and this is "everything, even if we came close to doing it with Buemi. Considering that there are five cars in a tenth and a half, a lot depended on errors. Today's situation was decidedly similar to that of Melbourne: both are circuits of braking and acceleration and braking doesn't seem to be one of our strong points. Luckily, it seems that tomorrow could be cooler for the race."
