Sauber in crisis, Alfa Romeo returns to F1?

Sauber's financial difficulties are now well known and rumors are now circulating that the team might not even race the Chinese GP due to a lack of new funds. Ferrari could come to the aid of the Swiss team but with the Alfa Romeo brand.

The Swiss team delayed salary payments to its 300 employees in February and in Bahrain co-owner Monista Kaltenborn was not present, reportedly too busy in Hinwil trying to resolve financial problems.

Recently Sergio Marchionne, president of Ferrari and CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has not hidden his desire to bring the Alfa Romeo brand back to Formula 1. By supporting Sauber, Alfa Romeo could become a sort of junior team for Ferrari.
