European GP, Rio Haryanto: “Tomorrow we will do our best, for the moment we will enjoy this good performance”

La Manor was unable to go beyond Q1 (as usual) however today's result is truly impressive for the English team, as it brought Haryanto River in seventeenth position (a breath away from Q2) e Pascal Werlhein right behind, the surprising thing was that the Banbury team cars managed to get behind one Mclarena Clean and both Renault.

Rio Haryanto – seventeenth, 1:45.665: “It was a nice ride I did so I'm very happy. We made some changes to the car for FP3 and there were a lot of improvements. We were very close to Q2 but unfortunately I was only able to set one time on the second set of tyres, during my second attempt there was a yellow flag. We have to be very focused tomorrow; the GP2 race showed that anything is possible so we must make sure we have a good start and a clean race without errors, so we will be able to seize any opportunities. We will do our best and hope that everything goes well, for the moment we enjoy this good performance.”

Pascal Werlhein – eighteenth, 1:45.750: “I'm a little disappointed with my qualifying as Q2 was definitely within reach. The DRS was disabled on my fastest lap due to the yellow flags in turns 3 and 4. So I lost a few tenths there. My second lap was better but I lost a few tenths due to tire degradation. We have good pace and our package here is really good. Today went like this, tomorrow is another day and I will try to do my best. The most important thing for us is to finish the race as I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities. With the Safety Car, and a good performance on our part, we can aim for a good result.”

Dave Ryan – Racing Director: “This was our best qualifying session of the year as having both cars ahead of both Renaults, a Sauber and a Mclaren is truly remarkable. This shows how much we have progressed, so congratulations go to the whole team and especially to Rio and Pascal who were in good form all day. However, although we are very happy with our result at the same time we have a bit of frustration as both our drivers were slightly hindered in their fastest laps. However, we are completely focused on tomorrow's race, which promises to be spectacular and full of opportunities.”
