F1 | Mercedes, Bottas on the team order at Hockenheim: "If I had been in command, the team would have done the same"
The Finn: "For now, Hamilton and I are treated as equals, I don't play a supporting role"
During the press conference on the eve of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas he returned to the controversial team order communicated to him by Mercedes in the final stages of the Hockenheim race following the attempted attack on the leadership of teammate Lewis Hamilton. “I think we're still allowed to run freely" – declared the Finnish pilot on the subject. “Obviously the situation has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis, but there is no plan in place for me to play a support role. We're still evenly matched - that's the plan for now. Let's hope this is the case for the rest of the year.".
Furthermore, Bottas stated that he understood the wall's choice to freeze 1st and 2nd position, avoiding the risk of a possible duel between teammates: “I understand why the team made that decision. The team wanted to collect as many points as possible and I'm sure that if I were in charge, the same order would have been given".
