Great satisfaction inside the Alpine garage for the double placing in the points achieved in the last Canadian Grand Prix, ninth round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship.

Despite a less than ideal race strategy and a technical problem with the power unit, as well as a penalty at the end that made him slip from seventh to ninth place, Fernando Alonso managed to bring his A522 inside the top ten, giving important points for the constructors to the team. The same goes for Esteban Ocon, given that the Frenchman placed sixth, immediately behind the "top" teams.

“The team leaves Canada with a sense of pride, after having earned many good points thanks to Esteban's sixth place and Fernando's ninth, after the penalty imposed at the end of the race,” said the Team Principal of the transalpine team, Otmar Szafnauer. “Despite the great success on Saturday, we showed that we were realistic when we approached the race, aware of the fact that our first objective was to score points with both cars to continue our momentum in the Championship.”

“Fernando had bad luck with the timing of the two interventions of the virtual safety car at the start of the race, before being the victim of a small problem that prevented him from moving up further in the standings,” he continued. “Esteban took advantage of the good start of the race and perfectly executed the plan designed to climb up to sixth position, driving intelligently and demonstrating good team spirit to allow Fernando to take advantage of the DRS, which allowed us to secure the final positions".

“This weekend, we demonstrated our full potential and look forward to the next set of developments made to the car for the next race, with the aim of fighting for better positions on the grid,” he concluded.
