F1 | Ferrari, Vasseur: “Many mistakes were made in China”

The one held in China last weekend was certainly Ferrari's most complicated event on the track in this first part of 2024. On the Shanghai track, officially back on the calendar after five years of absence due to the pandemic, the Cavallino has never been competitive for the very top positions, thus having to settle for finishing the race close to the podium in P4 with Charles Leclerc and P5 with Carlos Sainz respectively.

Discussing the difficulties encountered by the Red Team in Shanghai, where it was third force behind the elusive Red Bull (or rather Max Verstappen) and the revived McLaren with Lando Norris, Frederic Vasseur admitted how the Maranello team made so many mistakes that in the general calculation of the evaluations made the difference.

“The team has made too many mistakes – declared Vasseur, quoted by Autosport – I think it's really a question of putting everything together. We didn't have a clean weekend as far as that goes, but from a collective point of view we made several mistakes."

The Frenchman, continuing with his speech, added: “In this small group, if you don't do the perfect job you won't be in front. We have a group with six or seven cars within a tenth of qualifying. This means that thanks to the details you can go from hero to nothing.”
