Formula 1 | Mick Schumacher close to Q2 in qualifying in Austin
Nikita Mazepin's difficulties continue
Positive qualification for Mick Schumacher on the Circuit of the Americas, the venue for the next Formula 1 United States Grand Prix. The German from Haas, protagonist of a weekend above expectations so far, managed to come close to moving into Q2, confirming the great steps forward made in recent weeks. However, there is little discussion for Nikita Mazepin, given that the Russian continues to struggle tremendously with the set-up of his car.
“Great fun, but very low luck in Austin,” said Mick Schumacher. “We were unlucky with the last set of tyres, as we weren't able to start before they cooled down. I started my attempt to attack the time with the compounds not yet in condition and this led me to tackle the first sector with fairly low grip. It wasn't supposed to go like this, but we will try to redeem ourselves in the race."
Here are Nikita Mazepin's assessments: “I'm struggling with the set-up of the car and can't find the right balance between fast and slow corners. We are trying to implement several changes, also trying to do experiments. We probably already want to extract what is on the single-seater."
