Formula 1 | Alpine leaves Monza with zero points and many questions

Disappointment at Alpine for the result achieved by Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon in the last Italian Grand Prix, the 16th round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship.

Despite the characteristics in favor of the Monza track, the French team was unable to confirm the excellent form shown at Spa and Zandvoort, a factor that will have to push the team to analyze what went wrong not only on a technical level, but also on the strategic one.

Alonso, we remember, was forced to retire due to a problem with the hybrid system of his A522, while Ocon did not go beyond 11th place.

“Of course, we are disappointed not to have gained points in the Italian Grand Prix today. Esteban, who came eleventh, had almost made it. Instead, Fernando had to retire when he was in a good position. It appears there was a loss of water pressure, which forced him to stop,” Szafnauer said. “We will investigate as usual to identify the cause and find a solution for the future. For his part, Esteban put himself in a good position in the second stint, completing the lap a second faster than the cars in front of him, and was in the process of battling to get into the points, before the safety car intervened at the end. competition".

“It's a shame that the race didn't end with the green flag. I'm sure it's possible to find better ways to help the show when scenarios like this occur. As a team, we always have to focus on the positive points and, if we look at the three races overall, we gained 26 points, a good overall result, very valuable for the Championship. We will return stronger to Singapore at the end of the month, where we will have other changes to make to the car." concluded the Alpine Team Principal.
