Formula 1 | Alonso on the speed of the A522: “We are improving, even if reliability remains a problem”

During the opening press conference of the French Grand Prix, the 12th round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship, Fernando Alonso outlined the objectives of the Alpine team for the weekend at Paul Ricard, highlighting how his and the team's hope is that to continue to improve the speed of the A522, while also safeguarding its reliability, which up until now has seemed too "waxing". Achieving these objectives would allow the team to continue to compete on equal terms with McLaren for fourth place in the constructors' championship.

“The car has been going faster and faster in recent months, although reliability remains a problem,” said the Iberian. “In any case I hope to maintain consistency. There is always someone in front of us who has problems and for us it is an opportunity to finish in the top five."

“Also in the second part of the season we must have an optimistic approach. The challenge with McLaren is interesting, also because they are very strong in the race, especially Lando, but we have all it takes to compete. I'm quite optimistic."he concluded.
