Formula 1 | Alonso: “I'm fast, I'm not taking away places from the youngsters”

In a chat given to the NOS website, Fernando Alonso returned to talk "between the lines" about the dualism that is being generated with Oscar Piastri regarding the 2023 season, underlining how his performances on the track are leading the team to carefully evaluate what path to follow for next year.

Despite the many rumors of the last period, also fueled by the lack of certain declarations both from his entourage and from that of the team, the Iberian does not consider himself an obstacle to the young people's climb towards the Circus, given that the clock, despite the identity card, continues to remain on his side.

“I'm not on the list of drivers who are taking seats away from young people,” said the Iberian. “Formula 1 is a sport where it's not the identity card that counts, but rather the stopwatch and performance on the track, and I still consider myself very fast. If your performance isn't up to par then yes, you're blocking a guy's climb up the grid, but at the moment I don't feel like I'm in this situation at all."
