Ferrari Driver Academy | Arthur Leclerc champion of Formula Regional Asia 2022

Pole position, victory and champion title. Arthur Leclerc achieved all the objectives of the day before at the end of the first race held today in Yas Marina, home of the fifth and final stage of the Formula Regional Asia championship. The Ferrari Driver Academy driver laid a solid foundation on which to build his fourth success of the season by taking pole position at the end of an intense qualifying session yesterday. Leclerc made the most of his start from first position, taking the lead of the race ahead of teammate Dino Beganovic and already building a good safety margin in the first laps.

Perfect management. Arthur managed the race in the best possible way, also obtaining the fastest lap and passing the checkered flag as the winner. A success as a leader, achieved by Leclerc, who with two races to go has reached 203 points in the general classification, 65 more than his closest rival, the Spaniard Pepe Marti. A margin that gave him the mathematical certainty of the champion title, the result of perfect management of the championship. In addition to the four victories, Arthur also obtained one second and three third positions in the thirteen races held, confirming himself in the top-10 in all the other races. “I am extremely happy to have won the championship in this way – commented Leclerc – we had the chance to show our true potential, and today's result is the product of all the work we have done together throughout the championship. There are still two races to go, so we will continue to push to end this experience on a high note and be in the best shape in view of participating in the Formula 3 championship."

Well done Dino! On the day of Leclerc's triumph, a good confirmation also arrived from Dino Beganovic. After the third position achieved in qualifying, the eighteen-year-old Swede made a good start which allowed him to immediately overtake Jak Crawford, finishing behind Leclerc. Lap after lap Beganovic took a good lead on the group behind him, deservedly returning to the podium after the unfortunate weekend in Dubai. Oliver Bearman also confirmed himself in the points, as he is competing in his second weekend in the category at Yas Marina. After finishing ninth in qualifying, the sixteen-year-old Briton moved up to seventh at the start of the race, maintaining his position until the checkered flag.
