F1 | McLaren, Stella on the Abu Dhabi tests: "Piastri has begun the work of adapting to the team"

Through the columns of the official McLaren website, Andrea Stella promoted the work carried out by Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris on the post-season test day in Abu Dhabi. Despite the hardships of a season, which proved to be long and full of commitments, the English team managed to complete 238 laps on the Yas Marina track, accumulating data and experience in view of next year.

Norris, in this case, dedicated himself to the development of the compounds for the 2023 world championship, offering an important contribution not only to the team, but also to Pirelli. Piastri, on the other hand, making his official debut with the team's colours, focused mainly on mileage. The objective, in fact, was to gather as much information as possible in view of the three days of pre-season testing scheduled for the end of February in Bahrain.

“The post-season test day in Abu Dhabi was quite productive,” said McLaren Executive Director. “We managed to complete a very important job with both drivers. Oscar was able to begin the process of adapting to the MCL36 and the team. The main objective, for him, was to accumulate as many kilometers on board the single-seater, so as to understand the team's working method. Lando, however, dedicated himself to the 2023 compounds. Regardless of everything, we want to thank Pirelli for the support they have offered us."

Finally, thanks to the team for the work done throughout the entire season: “We completed 123 laps with Piastri and 115 with Norris. An important mileage which undoubtedly leads me to thank the team for the work done, both here on the track and in Woking. It's been a long season and now we'll return to the McLaren Technology Center to take a well-deserved rest and begin development work ahead of 2023."
