F1 | GP Miami, Ferrari ready for the challenge in Florida

The Formula 1 World Championship begins in Miami for the first of two races scheduled this season in the United States (the second will be in Austin on October 23). This is the debut on the new Miami International Autodrome - a circuit measuring 5.412 meters and featuring 19 curves - while for Formula 1 it is the return to Florida after the only Grand Prix held at Sebring in 1959, in which the Scuderia did not take part.

The track. The track that will host the fifth round of the 2022 season will not be a city like all the others. Virtually no temporary closures to traffic are expected, because the circuit will wind around permanent structures near the Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the Dolphins of the National Football League. Before defining the final layout, 36 different configurations were reviewed. The final version has two long straight sections which should facilitate overtaking, also thanks to the three DRS zones provided. There are many unknowns, as is obvious, but it is likely to expect cars on the track with low-load configurations comparable to those of the fastest tracks, despite the very guided part that goes from turns 11 to 16.

Program. The cars will take to the track for the first test session on Friday at 14.30pm local time (20.30pm CET), while the second hour is scheduled for 17.30pm (23.30pm CET). Qualifying on Saturday is scheduled for 16pm (22pm CET) preceded by the last hour of free practice at 13pm (19pm CET). The first Miami Grand Prix will start at 15.30pm local time on Sunday (21.30pm CET). 57 laps to be covered, equal to 308,326 km.
