We bring you the "Quali Recap" from Saturday of Charles Leclerc and Carlos on the Circuit of the Americas track, scene of the last United States Grand Prix.

The Monegasque, we remember, managed to place fifth, while the Spaniard immediately behind him. Both will move down one position thanks to the engine change penalty imposed on Valtteri Bottas.

United States GP, the “Quali Recap”

Q1, 16pm. Charles is among the first to get on track and clocks a 1'35”281 on Soft tyres. Carlos waits a few minutes and gets a 1'34”558 – also on Soft tires – also taking advantage of his teammate's slipstream on the main straight. It is a time that makes him safe for the next round.

16.14pm. Charles returns to the track to improve his time with a new set of Soft tires, stopping the clock at 1'34”153, a time that is worth first place. Carlos is sixth, so both Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow drivers advance to Q2.

Q2, 16.26pm. Charles takes to the track with Medium tyres, while Carlos opts for the Soft. The Monegasque achieved a time of 1'33”928, while Sainz set a time of 1'34”126.

16.36pm. Carlos comes out of the pits again, this time on Medium tires but does not improve, stopping the clocks at 1'34”388. Leclerc is fourth and will start the Grand Prix on Medium tyres, while Sainz is sixth and will line up on Soft tyres.

Q3, 16.48pm. The last phase begins for which the two Ferraris, the Mercedes, the Red Bulls, the McLarens and the AlphaTauri have qualified. All the cars take to the track on Soft tyres, those of Carlos and Charles are new. In the first attempt they achieved 1'33"826 and 1'33"897 respectively.

16.56pm. It's time for the second and final try. New Soft tires are fitted on both SF21s. Charles clocks 1'33”606, while Carlos clocks 1'33”792. They are fifth and sixth in the standings, but both will gain a position due to Bottas' penalty. Leclerc will start fourth on the second row, Sainz fifth, on the third.
