F1 | Bottas: “The step forward on the C42 is clear, but we still need to improve”

In a chat given to the columns of Crash.net, Valtteri Bottas analyzed the three days of pre-season testing on the Sakhir track in Bahrain, underlining how the C42, despite the clear step forward compared to last year's performance, has suffered from "waxing" reliability, an aspect that did not allow the drivers to complete a race simulation in full. An certainly "alarming" situation, but one that the team is trying to resolve in view of the Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled for next Sunday.

“We are not far from our reference level and I believe that the step forward compared to last year is clear”, said the Finn from Biscione. “When the car works we get good driving sensations and we must consider that we have not yet expressed 100% of its potential, like others”.

“The only concern at the moment is to cover the race distance without problems,” continued the former Mercedes. “During the tests we had to deal with various reliability problems, but always managed to find the necessary remedies. Let's hope we don't run into other problems when we actually have to race."
