Ecclestone: “This new F1 is unacceptable”

Bernie Ecclestone has called for urgent changes to improve the spectacle of F1, calling the current situation in the premier category "unacceptable".

Ahead of a series of meetings in the paddock of the Bahrain GP with Luca Cordero di Montezemolo and the top of the category, Ecclestone has increased his pressure on possible changes to the rules.

“I think we need to change, that's for sure. I don't think the current situation is acceptable to the public,” Ecclestone said. “People buy tickets and expect to see what real F1 was.”

According to Ecclestone, F1 has gone in the wrong direction with the 1.6 turbo engines: “What's wrong are these fantastic engines. The engines are undoubtedly incredible, the power they produce on so little fuel is incredible. But I don't think this is F1. They should be in touring cars or something, not F1."

Ecclestone has ruled out the idea of shortening races and says the best way is to increase fuel limits: “I think we can do something about the noise. If they need an extra 10kg or something they will all agree. Mercedes? We can do these things without harming them. I think everyone is complaining, even Mercedes. They don't like to see the public dissatisfied either."

TWO NEW TEAMS IN 2015 – According to Ecclestone, two new teams will arrive in F1 in 2015. The first will be the American team put together by Gene Haas, the other should be led by Colin Kolles. Ecclestone revealed that the Haas team has already received the green light from the FIA.
