F1 | Felipe Massa takes FOM, FIA and Ecclestone to court over the 2008 world championship

At that point the Brazilian, at the time in Ferrari together with Kimi Raikkonen he entered the pits, but the fuel filler remained connected to his F2008, and missed a great opportunity to win the Grand Prix.

Massa: “Let justice be done”. Ecclestone: “It's the right thing”

Almost 15 years later, Bernie Ecclestone then patron of the bandwagon formula 1, he admitted as FIA e FOM (Formula One Management, ed.) knew everything about the issue, but without lifting a finger. This did not go down well with the Brazilian, who therefore decided to take everyone to court, depositing the necessary documents yesterday at the High Court of Justice in London. The same Ecclestone, when asked about the matter, he said the following: “If he had asked for my opinion on the matter, I would have told him that he had to sue, it would have been the right thing to do. Let an English judge decide what is right or wrong."

“I always said I would fight to the end – Massa said regarding the matter. The FIA ​​and FOM have deliberately decided not to do anything about this, so we will seek to correct this historic injustice in the relevant courts. Now the matter passes into the hands of the lawyers, they are fully authorized to do everything necessary to ensure justice is done in sport."

It is very unlikely that Felipe Massa will have the chance to get his hands on the 2008 title won by Hamilton, too much time has passed and he would have had some chance only if the issue had been addressed in due time, well before the end of that world championship (very short timescales, we are talking about less than two months). The Brazilian can be compensated with a very significant sum of money, we are talking about 60 to 150 million pounds.
