F1 | Ecclestone against the Las Vegas GP

The Grand Prix scheduled for this weekend in Las Vegas is continuing to arouse controversy since it seems that with all the events and attractions scheduled (you will even be able to marry in the paddock), there will be less attention on the motorsport weekend. Max Verstappen was one of the first to speak out against the event in Nevada, declaring: “I think we race there more for the spectacle than the race, if we consider the layout. Actually, I'm not very interested."

The former Formula 1 leader, Bernie Ecclestone, is also of the same opinion and, interviewed by the Dutch publication NOS, reported:

“I'm not looking forward to the race, because it has nothing to do with Formula 1.

Ecclestone has been credited with bringing the sport to new emerging markets in Asia, including Bahrain, China and Singapore at the turn of the century, and in this regard, he expressed his pride that F1 continue to expand to different parts of the world. The 1 F2024 schedule features a record 24 races, with China returning to the calendar for the first time since 2019.

Ecclestone said: “I'm delighted that the sport continues to develop around the world. I am the one who brought Formula 1 out of Europe and into the rest of the world. We are competing for a World Championship, not a European Championship. It's good that it stays that way."
