F1 | Ecclestone: “Schumacher will forever be remembered as a star”
"I knew he had talent," commented the Briton
The former supreme boss of Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone, gave an interview to DPA on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the terrible accident on the ski slopes in which seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher was seriously injured.
“I knew he had talent - commented the 93-year-old - Eddie Jordan was very convinced about him, he had a good eye. Michael would definitely have found another cockpit and we stole it from Jordan."
Then speaking about Schumacher's era at Ferrari, during which the German brought the Maranello team back to victory, the Briton told an anecdote:
“One day we were sitting at a table and I said to him: 'Who leads this team?' He replied: 'I'll go there.' And he did well, he was able to bring out the best in people. He earned the respect of the people who listened to him. Every time he said something they knew it was the right thing. Whatever Michael said to Jean Todt, he followed."
Finally, a thought on the German champion who he defined as "a good guy":
“I miss him, he will always be remembered as a star.”
