F1 | For the future, Ecclestone expects a reduction in races on the calendar

Bernie Ecclestone believes that in the near future some races will be eliminated from the world championship calendar formula 1. The reason? The excessive number of events to be held during a single year. In 2024 the Circus calendar will even rise to 24 Grands Prix, an unprecedented number in the history of the Circus.

A number which, according to the former owner of Formula 1, will lead the current CEO of the top class Stefano Domenicali to make some assessments by eliminating certain events.

“What will happen next? Who knows. Maybe we will lose some races – Ecclestone told the Dutch broadcaster NOS, answering a question about the Zandvoort event which currently has a contract until 2025 – Twenty-four races on the calendar are too many. Some will be removed."

The English manager, completing his thoughts, added: “I am happy that sport continues to develop around the world. I'm the one who took Formula 1 out of Europe and brought it to the rest of the world. Because it is a world championship, not a European championship."
