F1 | Ecclestone against the calendar full of races

Bernie Ecclestone points the finger at the calendar of formula 1, which has now become too busy. The 2023 World Championship was set for twenty-three events, the one in Imola was canceled due to the adverse weather conditions that afflicted Emilia-Romagna in the month of May, including the new entry Las Vegas which will take place on November 19th. For the former owner of the Circus, who in 2017 sold the Formula 1 package to the American company Liberty Media, he admitted that an 18-race championship could represent a fair compromise.

“My opinion is that 18 races are enough – said Ecclestone, interviewed by the Daily Mail – We played 20 and I often thought they were too many. Because you have to think about the teams. Before long they will have to employ double the staff. With 22 or 23 races there will be too many divorces. It's a matter of time."

Ecclestone then added: “I can understand traders because they sign long-term deals and this apparently makes the company they work for a lot more money. They can say they have 10-year contracts or whatever. What they are doing is 100% right from a business perspective. But without a shadow of a doubt I would limit myself to participating in 18 important races."
