F1 | 2023 calendar, the Chinese GP will not be replaced by another world stage

In the last seasonal World Council, held today at the Savoia Regency Hotel in Bologna, the International Automobile Federation ratified the calendar for the 2023 Formula 1 world championship, making "only" 23 events around the globe official. Despite the rumors of recent weeks, the FIA has chosen not to replace the Chinese Grand Prix, recently "cancelled" due to the zero-Covid19 policy of the Chinese government, effectively accepting the teams' request not to further burden a year already full of events.

A curious choice which left out not only Portimao (Portugal GP), a solution which presented difficulties from a logistical point of view (in conjunction with the WEC), but also the Istanbul Park track, traditional venue for the Turkish Grand Prix and ready to return to the Circus after occasional appearances in 2020 and 2021. The next Championship, therefore, will begin on March 5th from Bahrain, after the classic three-day test scheduled for the end of February, and will continue with the away games in Jeddah (19/3 ) and Melbourne (2/4).

Subsequently, Miami will anticipate the return to Europe, theater of the central part of the championship. Followed in the autumn by the rounds in Asia (Singapore and Japan), the Middle East (Qatar) and America (United States, Mexico and Brazil). Grand finale on November 26th in Abu Dhabi.
