F1 | Alonso relegated to the grid: fourth power unit of the season for the Spaniard in Austin
The Spaniard will start from the back together with Vettel and Russell
Fernando Alonso will start from the back in the next United States Grand Prix, the 17th round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. After the difficulties faced by the Spaniard yesterday and the technical problems that emerged on the power unit in free practice 1, Alpine has chosen to mount the fourth power unit of the season on the Spaniard's car, who will be forced to lead a comeback race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
The two-time World Champion will almost certainly not complete this evening's qualifying and will try to optimize the car's set-up as best as possible for the race, with the aim of recovering up to the points zone, which is more important than ever for the fight with Aston Martin and AlphaTauri for fifth place in the constructors' championship.
