F1 | Steiner on the Brazilian GP: “Let's take the positive aspects and look forward”

Interviewed by the official Haas website, Gunther Steiner wanted to look at the positive aspects of the last Brazilian Grand Prix, the fourth to last round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship, specifying how the team managed to show good potential despite the "adverse" characteristics of the Brazilian track.

Mazepin was in fact the protagonist of a good race, especially in terms of pace and tire management. Different story however for Mick Schumacher, given that the German suffered a broken front wing in a contact with Kimi Raikkonen which forced him to make an additional stop. In any case, Haas will try to take advantage of what it learned in Brazil to close this 2021 season in the best possible way.

“Today's race was quite good, including the starts,” said Gunther Steiner. “Mick has made a lot of progress and the same goes for Nikita. Unfortunately, due to a contact with Kimi Raikkonen, the former's race was ruined. Let's say that the broken wing compromised the achievement of a good result. Likewise Nikita showed good pace, probably finishing his best weekend of the season. The result in the end wasn't fantastic, but we are happy with the progress shown."
