F1 | Aston Martin, Krack's analysis of the difficulties in Monza: "We knew it would be tough"

Intercepted by the English media, Mick Krack returned to talk about the difficulties faced by the Aston Martin team during the last Italian Grand Prix, the 16th round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship, highlighting how the drivers suffered from the little grip generated by the wings at low load, especially during racing.

Despite various tests on Friday, Aston Martin chose to race with an extreme low-load configuration, which favored point speed rather than cornering grip. A balance that helped the drivers in qualifying, but did not allow them to consistently battle for the points zone on Sunday, given that the AMR22 proved to be a difficult single-seater to drive, especially in the second sector of the Brianza track.

“Based on the way the car is developed, we knew that the Monza weekend would be very difficult,” stated the Team Principal of the English team. “In testing we carried out comparative tests on the wings, but in the end we chose to focus on straight-line speed. The car, therefore, proved difficult to drive in the race and with little grip. The tires suffered a lot and, to be honest, we didn't have the pace to battle."
