Bernie Ecclestone wants to return to V10s
The 84-year-old wants to return to V10s and will apply to the Strategy Group
We are used to Bernie Ecclestone's usual outbursts and the owner of Formula 1, even on this occasion, has no intention of abandoning his crusade towards the current engines that power Formula 1 cars. In a meeting held with a select group of journalists, including Christian Sylt of Forbes, the 84-year-old revealed his intention to propose a return to the V10s in the 2016 season. Ecclestone will officially present his application to the Strategy Group at the meeting on 18 December.
Bad news for the Volkswagen group which, thanks to the V6 Turbo engines, would survive trying to get into Formula 1. But this doesn't seem to affect the 84-year-old: “I honestly don't think Volkswagen is an obstacle to the desire to return to V10s. I've been out too long and they didn't do enough to try to enter Formula 1", he concluded.
