Bernie Ecclestone and conspiracy theories: “Mercedes helped Ferrari”

As reported by the German portal Motorsport-total.com, Bernie Ecclestone made some statements on the rivalry between Mercedes and Ferrari, stating how in his opinion the Anglo-German team would have somehow helped the Italian team, through the transfer of engineering know-how, in order to make F1 more exciting and with the aim last to give more prestige to one's victories.

The patron of the Circus took inspiration from the probable umpteenth domination of Mercedes: “I think that ultimately Mercedes helped Ferrari in the way they thought was right - accused Ecclestone, with somewhat surprising statements - Mercedes is better off having exciting races and it is better to have a Ferrari as a direct competitor than, for example, a Force India. Even victory becomes more valuable in this way.".

A thesis - that of the president of the FOM - bizarre to say the least, considering the bitter rivalry that exists, net of obvious respect, between Brackley and Maranello. Mercedes even complained to the FIA ​​about the position of the drivers' blackboards displayed on the wall every lap, accusing Ferrari of obstructing the view of its drivers. It seems difficult that such a "hungry" team would have voluntarily helped Ferrari become competitive again.
