Bernie Ecclestone: “10 is the ideal number of teams in Formula 1”

With the HRT bankrupt and out of F1, Bernie Ecclestone would be happy to see another team abandon the sport.

“It would be right to have 10 teams. I never wanted 12 teams,” the F1 boss told the Reuters agency.

The departure of HRT leaves the grid with just 11 teams, but it has recently emerged that the other small team namely Marussia it is the only team registered for the 2013 championship not to have accepted the new one Concorde Agreement.

“10 is the right number as it would be easier to manage, for promoters and for transport,” said Ecclestone.

He also believes that a rescue of HRT is unlikely, as according to an unpaid supplier, the team is already in liquidation.

“I don't think anyone wants to save HRT,” Ecclestone said.
