Williams: Massa seventh, Bottas eighth in qualifying at Sepang
Difficult qualifying for the Grove team
Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas qualified in seventh and ninth position at the Malaysian F1 GP but the Finn will start from eighth position due to the two-place grid penalty imposed on Romain Grosjean. Difficult qualifying for the two Williams drivers who are now hoping for race pace.
“It wasn't an easy day, I think in the dry we could have both been in the top five,” said Massa. “We still have some problems in the wet like last season, we hope to resolve them soon. Tomorrow will probably be dry, so let's hope for a better race."
“I'm a bit disappointed with how qualifying went,” added Bottas. “I felt I had a good lap so I was a bit surprised to see I was in ninth position. I wanted to be the last to cross the finish line and so I was but we still have a lot of work to do on wet performance. We hope it will be dry tomorrow, but it will also be hot so it won't be easy at all, especially starting from ninth position."
