F1 | Felipe Massa defends Perez: it wouldn't be right to fire him
"Any change for Max would mean a worsening," commented the Brazilian
Despite the contract signed for 2024 and repeated denials from the team who are considering the possibility of sacking the struggling Mexican, rumors persist of a potential change in the upcoming winter period on Sergio Perez's future at Red Bull. Regarding this, the former Formula 1 driver, Felipe Massa expressed his point of view, taking Perez's defense.
“As long as Max is happy and the team wins both the drivers' championship and the constructors' championship, I think it would be wise to leave things as they are now. Max feels good and wins almost every race. For him, any change would mean a worsening."
The Brazilian claims that it would not be a good idea to put another top driver in Perez's place, although he would like to see more fights on the track:
“Let's be honest: we would all prefer to see the championship decided on the last lap, like in 2021 in Abu Dhabi. If you think like this, you obviously want the best driver on the grid after Max to take Perez's place."
