GP New York, the organizers deny delays

The organizers of the New York F1 GP have responded to Bernie Ecclestone's hypothesis of a probable postponement of the race from 2013 to 2014. The Formula 1 CEO had announced a race on a street circuit in New Jersey for 2013 and recent photos have shown that work on the pit structures has already begun.

But Ecclestone told the BBC this week: "Maybe the New York race will happen in 2013. But maybe it will be postponed to 2014."

For some, the news was just a diversion by Ecclestone to ease the pressure on the non-cancellation of the Bahrain GP.

A spokesperson for the New York race reacted to Ecclestone's statements: "There is nothing to comment on, the race will take place, as planned, in 2013."
