Formula 1 | McLaren, MCL38 created to provide continuity after an excellent 2023

Andrea Stella: "We continue to work to compete in the top positions"

La McLaren has the objective of giving continuity to a very important second part of 2023, in which it has effectively climbed the constructors' classification from the bottom to fourth position, gaining a total of 302 points and nine podiums between Norris e Plates, not counting the top three finishes in the Sprint Race. Now, with the MCL38, the historic Woking team must necessarily take that step to have the two young drivers compete in the very first positions on the grid right away, and then keep up with the updates during the season.

Andrea Stella: “We must be realistic”

Andrea Stella (53 years old on 22 February) is in his second season as team principal of McLaren

“The team is happy to present the MCL38 today and see it on track for the first time – said Andrea Stella, McLaren team principal. With the start of the new season, we will try to exploit the positive momentum of 2023. However, we are realistic, aware that each team will have made progress and found competitiveness for their 2024 cars. We have everything in order from the point of view of infrastructure, people and culture, so we will continue to build on the work done to compete in the very top positions. Before hitting the track for the official sessions we have a lot of work to do, including putting the MCL38 through its paces during pre-season testing in Bahrain. The team has done a good job over the winter and we are confident we can get off to a good start, but we know we have important tasks at hand before the start of the championship. There are numerous innovations on the single-seater, but we still need to work on some specific areas."
