F1 | Wurz: “Mercedes has a slight but insignificant advantage over Ferrari”

Mercedes e Ferrari in front of, Red Bull slightly out of the way: the countdown to the start of the 2018 World Cup is ticking inexorably and for Alex Wurz it's time for predictions. The former Formula 1 driver and president of the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers' Association), interviewed by the Austrian newspaper The basic, gave an overview of the leading teams, placing his chips on the Mercedes-Ferrari duel: “In the tests we saw that they are close” – said Wurz. “Red Bull could certainly be involved in some circuits. My instinct says they are three tenths behind, but you should never underestimate them and on some tracks they will be really fast. I hope there can be a bit of a three-way fight".

Wurz is not so convinced of Mercedes' superiority: “Last year the situation was similar: everyone thought Mercedes was bluffing, but then Ferrari was extremely fast. On long runs Mercedes has a slight but insignificant advantage".

Finally, the Austrian commented on the registration of all the pilots in the GPDA, which he presides over: “We are all together in one boat and we must think together about Formula 1, even if there are many political factors in this sport. This is very important, since all the drivers – and 100% of them are members of the GPDA – said that we must be fully engaged in sport not just as individuals".
