Ecclestone would admit a return to Silverstone
According to Bernie Ecclestone, the F1 doors have not yet closed for Silverstone. Last year the category's chief executive signed an agreement with Donington to host the British grand prix from 2010, hoping not to have to return to Silverstone, a circuit owned by the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC).
Despite Ecclestone's arguments that the historic circuit's facilities are out of date, it is believed that the 78-year-old simply can't stand the BRDC. But the delay in work at Donington changed Bernie's mind, and he denied having closed the door to a possible return to Silverstone in the future.
“If they decide to do what they have to do, and what we have been asking for five years, it cannot be ruled out,” he told the British Times newspaper. “We have nothing against Silverstone.” However, Ecclestone denied BRDC president Damon Hill's claims that negotiations had already started. “No, I'm not talking to them,” he told the online magazine GPWeek.
