On the occasion of the Italian Formula One Grand Prix at the Monza Autodromo, Alberto Bombassei, President of Brembo, presented the trophy for the 2016 edition of the 'Bernie Ecclestone Award' to Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President and CEO of Pirelli & CSpA

The recognition was awarded with the following motivation: “Having contributed to the progress of motorsport, strengthening in particular the image of Formula One and encouraging its growth throughout the world, with prestigious results obtained thanks to notable personality and entrepreneurial ability. Brembo is honored to donate the 2016 recognition to Marco Tronchetti Provera, for the important successes achieved in the role of Executive Vice President and CEO of Pirelli & CSpA".

The awards ceremony took place in the Formula One Management Hospitality area, inside the paddock of the Monza Autodromo.

The recognition was born from the will of President Bombassei who, in agreement with Bernie Ecclestone, wants to reward every year - on the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix - the personalities from the world of Formula One who more than others have contributed to spreading and supporting the excellence of this sport in the world thanks to their passion and constant commitment to technological innovation, values ​​that have always been at the basis of Brembo's daily actions.

The international 'Bernie Ecclestone Award by Brembo' was created in 2011, as a tribute to the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Italian company. On that occasion, Alberto Bombassei, President of Brembo, had given Bernie Ecclestone, President of Formula One Management, a braking system customized with the colors of the Italian flag.

In 2012 the prize was awarded to Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, President of Ferrari Spa; in 2013 the honor was given to Niki Lauda, ​​non-executive President of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, while in 2014 the award was given to Sir Frank Williams, Founder and Team Principal of the Williams F1 team. The 2015 edition of the award, which will be awarded privately by the end of the year, was awarded to Jean Todt, President of the International Automobile Federation.
