Massa: “I'm very happy, Ferrari is my family”

It was a very affectionate meeting, in which Montezemolo complimented Felipe on his excellent performances in recent times, especially those in the Far East.

Obviously it didn't take long to reach an agreement on the contract renewal: Ferrari has known Felipe since he was little more than a boy and he grew up sportingly in Maranello, so much so that he is now starting to be one of the "elderly" ones. of the team on the track. “I am very happy with this agreement” – commented the Brazilian driver – “Ferrari is my sporting family and I have always raced in Formula 1 driving engines built in Maranello: I can't see myself behind the wheel of a single-seater powered by other engines ! First of all, I want to thank President Montezemolo and Stefano Domenicali, who put their trust in me and always supported me, even in the most difficult moments. Both, the team and all the fans can be certain that I will do everything in my power to help the Scuderia reach the goals it sets itself every year."

The satisfaction can also be perceived in the words of Stefano Domenicali, who already on Sunday evening at the Yeongam circuit had made it clear that he would be moving in the direction of a confirmation. “We are pleased to have extended our relationship with Felipe for a further year” – declared the Team Principal – “He has been part of our family for over a decade and has shown, especially in this last part of the season, that he is new competitor at the highest levels, as we expect every driver behind the wheel of a Ferrari to be. We have always supported Felipe, even in the most difficult moments of his career, and we are certain of his value and that he will be able to repay the trust that has been renewed in him."

Now that the Massa topic has been clarified, perhaps for a few days the speculations on the Ferrari drivers will calm down but this is probably a vain hope: the rumor mill is always open, populated by people who, by dint of saying everything and the opposite of everything, in the end they can boast of having got it right. And this was one of the reasons that pushed Montezemolo and Massa to decide to announce the renewal today, precisely to put an end to speculation.

One thing is certain: the driver line-up for 2013 has been defined, now every single drop of energy will be concentrated on preparing for the last four races of this very uncertain 2012 World Championship.
