F1 Test | Satisfaction at Honda: "We have not encountered any particular problems"

Honda is satisfied with the work carried out by Red Bull and AlphaTauri in the two weeks of testing in Barcelona. The Japanese manufacturer, in its second year of partnership with the Red Bull team (third overall with the Austrian family) seems to have taken a further step forward capable of leading Verstappen and company to bother the battleship Mercedes more frequently. Over the course of the tests, between the two teams, the Honda covered 7.211 kilometers well.

“We have come to the end of these 6 days of testing, managing to pass them without any particular problems and completing a good number of laps with both teams – said Toyoharu Tanabe, Honda's technical director. Overall it was a positive session, during which we carried out several tests on the power unit and collected a large amount of data. 769 laps with the AlphaTauri and 780 with the Red Bull equate to 1.549 laps and 7.211 km traveled in total for the Honda, a very respectable mileage. It is still too early to talk about the competitiveness of the two teams, as each has carried out different programs in different conditions, such as track temperature, wind and humidity: all elements that have a significant impact on a modern Formula 1 car. However, we can define good preparation at the start of the season. Now we will analyze the data and the same power units used in these six days: the work will continue until the last useful moment before the opening race. With only 16 days left until Melbourne, we aim to start the season on the right foot."
