Sauber: Hulkenberg and Gutierrez working to improve balance

It was a pretty standard free practice session for the Sauber team at the Sakhir circuit for the Bahrain GP. The cars of Hulkenberg and Gutierrez proved reliable throughout the day and this allowed the team to collect useful data to improve the balance.

Nico Hulkenberg: “We were able to execute our practice program today. Everything went pretty smoothly. In terms of performance, there is still quite a bit of work to do for us, I expected this circuit to highlight some of our weaknesses, but I think there is some potential. I'm still not satisfied with the balance of the car, but I think we can find more performance tomorrow if we solve the balance. We have a long night ahead to try and maximize everything for this weekend.”

Esteban Gutierrez: “I think we managed to improve the balance of the car in the second session compared to this morning. The first session was a bit complicated in terms of car balance. We were trying a lot of different settings, but it all came together this afternoon. However, we still lack speed in slow corners due to the lack of stability and traction. We will look at the data and work on these features so we can create a machine with room for improvement. “
