F1 | Seidl: “Alonso will not be McLaren's reserve driver”

Interviewed by the international media during the last British Grand Prix, the fourth round of this 2020 Formula 1 world championship, Andreas Seidl ruled out Fernando Alonso's involvement within the McLaren, underlining how the team did not pre-alert the Spaniard in the event of his testing positive for Covid19 Carlos Sainz o Lando Norris.

According to what was declared by the Team Principal of the Woking Scuderia, the chosen ones to replace the officials would be Esteban Gutierrez and Stoffel Vandoorne, who would have already carried out the seat test and some simulator test sessions.

“Fernando Alonso will not be our reserve this year,” said Andreas Seidl. “His preparation program for the Indy 500 will begin shortly. If one between Sainz and Norris were to test positive for the swab test, we will choose one between Gutierrez and Vandoorne. We tested the seats with both of them and a short session on the simulator."
