Hulkenberg: “We are disappointed. We are simply too slow."

A disappointing qualification for the Sauber team in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix. Hulkenberg and Guitierrez will start from 15th and 16th position respectively.

Nico Hulkenberg – 15th: “Qualifying went according to plan today. It's disappointing, we're just too slow. The updates this weekend were a step in the right direction, and the car set up in qualifying was good, but not quite as good as other teams who could have improved even more. I am very satisfied with my lap in Q2. The ride was perfect. We used two sets in order to try to get a better grid position, but in the end it wasn't enough, because we lacked the pace. Other than that, I think we can be happy with what we've done, but we simply need to find more speed."

Esteban Gutierrez – 16th: “Today's qualifying was difficult after yesterday but in free practice 3 this morning I felt quite confident and the laps seemed to be consistent overall. I believe the updates are a good step forward, we simply need to keep pushing for more speed.”

Monisha Kaltenborn, Team Principal: “We cannot settle for 15th and 16th position, especially on a track like this. It won't be easy to get points from where we start. Both drivers showed great performances today which shows that we have closed the gap in qualifying, but they still need to improve more. ”
